Charles City Preschool Registration for 2018-19
Charles City Early Childhood Center free State-Wide Voluntary Preschool Program (SWVPP) registration is underway.
Families enrolling in the free four-year-old voluntary preschool program must meet two requirements:
1. Your child MUST BE four years old by September 15, 2018.
2. Your family MUST reside anywhere in the State of Iowa (district boundaries do not apply to preschool).
The Charles City Community School District continues to offer a popular parent option of extended day preschool combined with the free SWVPP.
1. Preschool will be held in the morning from 8 AM - 12:30 PM.
2. In 2018-19 we will assess the needs of our families who would like to enroll in the extended day preschool to provide the best hours to accommodate your family. Please let us know how we can best serve your student and family needs.
The preschool day will include academic centers, small group work, snacks, library, and outdoor learning. Students involved in the preschool program will have special opportunities like field trips, assemblies, and programs like the older buddy system, which benefits preschool and older elementary students. Class sizes will not exceed 20 students in a section.
Students who enroll in the Washington Elementary School SWVPP are prepared for Kindergarten. Students learn their way around the school, participate in special school activities, and meet the people in their school. Preschool curriculum is also aligned with Kindergarten curriculum so your student will receive the extra added benefits of being more prepared for their next step into Kindergarten.
The Charles City Early Childhood Center has the experience and education to benefit your child.
