Letterhead

April 11, 2019

Dear Parents and Students:

This letter is to inform you of enforcement of policies from our Student Handbook regarding cell phones, hooded sweatshirts, and hats.  We are focusing on these policies after receiving feedback from parents, staff, and even students. We felt the change to be appropriate and best for all students.  This will begin on April 15 and will be the expectation for the 2019-2020 school year and beyond.

The following are the expectations and consequences regarding cell phone use:

  • Cell phones must be off and in locker - 8:10 a.m. to 3:10 p.m. (This includes bluetooth earbuds and/or any type of headphones). If you need to get ahold of your student please send them an email or call the main office.

    • 1st Violation - Teacher confiscates the phone and student may pick it up at the end of the day in the Middle School Office.  This will be documented by our secretaries.

    • 2nd Violation - Teacher confiscates the phone and parent will be notified about the violation.  Parent will be able to pick the phone up in the Middle School Office.

    • 3rd Violation - Teacher confiscates the phone and parent will be notified about the violation.  Parent will be able to pick the phone up at the Superintendent's office.

Hooded sweatshirt and hat expectations:

  • Hooded sweatshirts - hoods must remain down during the school day (8:10 a.m. - 3:10 p.m.)

  • Hats - hats must remain off during the school day.

    • Students who continue to not follow this policy will not be allowed to wear hoodie sweatshirts

    • Hats will be confiscated and parents will be notified.

Sincerely,

Rick GabelThomas Harscamp
