In 2016 the Charles City Community School District issued 1:1 Chromebooks for all students in grades 3-12. Students in fifth - twelfth grade are allowed to take the Chromebooks home. The District is now offering parents a free option to monitor how their students are using their school-issued devices with a program called Securly.

Parents can now view their students' activity in-school and at-home for student's school-owned devices. All of this is delivered via a web dashboard and email reports.

Parents will be able to customize what your student can do and see on their school-owned devices while at home in the near future, specifically allow or deny access to specific sites and categories.

The software also contains cyber bullying and self-harm detection elements.

The company plans to roll-out some additional features of the Securly software in the near-future.

When you sign up for this free service you will be asked for the following information:
student’s name, student’s email, student’s grade, parents name, parents e-mail
